Location General information The conference will be held at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Provo is about 45 minutes south of Salt Lake City, the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics. Within three or four hours of Provo are famous national parks like Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Arches. Spring is a great time to visit Utah -- there's still snow on the ski slopes, but it's easy to get out and about. Conference locations The pre-conference workshop on Wednesday("Corpus Linguistics with R"), the 8:45 AM plenary talk on Thursday morning, and all of the sessions on Saturday will be held on the BYU campus (campus map). The pre-conference workshop will be in Room 4188 in the new Joseph F. Smith Building (#68 on the preceding map). All of the plenary talks at BYU will be held in the library auditorium (#53). The regular Saturday sessions will be in the library, via the south entrance. Dinner on Friday night and lunch and dinner on Saturday will be held in the Skyroom in the Wilkinson Center (#91). Most of the sessions on Thursday and all sessions on Friday will be held at Aspen Grove. This is a BYU-owned conference center that is about 20-25 minutes from campus in the mountains, near Robert Redford's Sundance resort. Both Aspen Grove and Sundance are beautiful locations -- in the middle of pine trees at the base of Mount Timpanogos. Facilities All of the conference rooms at BYU and at Aspen Grove will have a PC laptop, high-speed Internet connection, data projector, and overhead projector. There will also be guest Internet access at both locations. Parking Free visitor parking is available on campus. For more information, see the "Parking" tab here. Note Please be advised that because BYU is a church-owned school, there are some unique restrictions for activities that are held on campus. As far as your participation at this conference, the main issue is that there is no smoking anywhere on campus, and that while on campus (and at Aspen Grove), participants are asked to refrain from coffee, tea, and alcohol.
